Daddy's Little Guls: Big Girl's Special Day As a parent, I remember visiting the library to learn what information was available to address young girls preparing for "the change". Most of the information was technical, covering anatomy or how the reproductive system is affected when a young girl begins her menstrual cycle. There was nothing in the Children's section that could help my daughter understand, on her level, via illustrations and storytelling, the reason for her bodily changes and what to expect because of them. I wrote this book to encourage parents and care givers to prepare their daughters, nieces, and granddaughters for this passage to womanhood, and to ensure when the time comes, these young girls are aware of what is happening and why. I hope parents and care givers will use this book as an entr?e into a conversation about stages of development, maturity, and the significance of this "Special Day". Daddy's Little Guls is a snapshot of memories captured on paper, memorializing the adventures of two little girls sharing their experiences growing up in a loving home with a single parent.
