This book explores the many weaknesses of typical cruising gear, and suggests methods of limiting failures, emphasized by excellent vignettes of onboard experience. It is well worth re-reading.
Blue-water cruising-rigs: playing it safe and having fun.
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 27 years ago
This book is not up to date, but that's a minor drawback. It covers almost everything above the deckline except for sewing sails. Ross Norgrove seem to have been around for a while and have quite a few stories to tell. He uses them to get his message across: Do it right, do it safe and you'll have a splendid time cruising. He concentrates on bermudan and wishbone rigs/sails so there is less to read for those who are interested in junk rigs or gaff rigs. But it's good reading for most of us, even for armchair sailors.
