I just happened to watch the 1950s movie version of Crow Hollow on Tubi, and was fascinated by this British film noir. I couldn't quite put together the ending, so I decided to hunt down a copy of the book it was based on, which was something of a task. The stores I managed to find that at one time carried it were out of stock, and apparently it was also out of print. After a bit of searching I finally found a copy on Amazon through Lavendier Books (and I believe I snagged their last paperback copy). The movie was faithful to the book, but the book was much better, with more detail and more supporting characters. It grabbed me from the get-go and moved me right along until the end. The ending definitely made better sense, too. This cozy, action-packed mystery is a delighful book and will always be at the top of my list of favorite reads.
