BE HUMAN

In Cromartie High School #7 one of the oldest questions of mankind is finally addressed by minds that while lacking in intelligence, do not lack for sheer effort of will not to figure out what it really means to be human. The student who will serve as the barometer for this ever elusive definition is "the gorilla". Yes, that's right, the Cromartie idiots are finally going to to try to assimilate him into the fold of humankind. One of the gorilla's first obstacles is to get a job at a sushi restaurant! Even Freddie seems poised to enter the world of corporate bigshots as he is mistaken for an important business executive. Meanwhile the Four Great Ones who are five ruminate on how to bring in a new member to their already overswelled ranks while Kamiyama and company try to reconcile Takahashi's coolness with the mysterious antennae stuck on his head....or are they growing? In terms of this series, Volume 7 left me feeling a little hollow because it focused on some of my least favorite characters, and I don't mean the gorilla! I've never found the Four Great Ones to be that funny and they eat up a big chunk of the book. The best gags here all centered around the plight of the gorilla in the real world where only a chosen few grasp the absurdity of his working as a sushi chef. The whole Takahashi bit has gotten old. While funny last volume, it lacks novelty now. I want to see more Mechazawa!! While this volume was a slight disappointment, I still love this series.
