The Giant Book of Creatures of the Night

Both my six-year-old son and I enjoyed this one. Full of terrific illustrations and cool facts, it covers every thing from familiar nocturnal animals like bats, owls, and raccoons to lesser known moon lovers like red howler monkeys, jerboas, and my son's favorite, amazed fish. Learning that a vampire bat needs to eat half its weight in blood each day just to stay alive and that snakes lick a smelling organ in their mouths to pick up scents is just a sample of the slightly gross but very cool things kids can learn. My son was engrossed by every page. A nice one to share before sending your night creature to bed.
