Excellent, Worth Buying

I am a beginner with polymer clay and I am an animal lover; I wanted to do animals; this book has helped me achieve my goal. I say the same thing I did with her other book; I HIGHLY recommend this book; it is worth having. She is a great artist and I love her work and her books.

Kathleen is a genius!

I have bought and studied many sculpture books over the years. None have compared to this book, I learned so much, so easily. Ms. Dewey has found a way to break down very intricate figures into simple to mold parts, and makes the building process easy, and the result amazingly complex looking. If you have all but given up on your sculping, give this book a chance. I was shocked that she could make my work look so professional and realistic!

You're studying with a master in this book

Well, now that the "Sculpey" craze of a few years back has settled down, artists can settle down, too, & enjoy the many fine books that continue to be published by North Light, Sterling & other companies. Sculptor Katherine Dewey, who has been making, teaching & exhibiting polymer sculpture for years, put her talent & experience into "Creating Life-like Animals in Polymer Clay." So if you're ready to expand your creative field or advance your technique, you're studying with a master in this book. Katherine guides you through all the steps with strong advice that will stay with you, not shortcuts that take out the "art" & leave only the "craft." You'll learn to make ceramic animal pieces that you'll really be pleased to keep, sell, or give as gifts. The greatest rewards from this medium happen when the artist studies it earnestly...Some other fine polymer art books include:Making Miniature Dolls With Polymer Clay : How to Create and Dress Period Dolls in 1/12 Scale by Sue HeaserThe Polymer Clay Techniques Book by Sue HeaserHow to Make Clay Characters by Maureen CarlsonFamily and Friends in Polymer Clay by Maureen Carlson

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL

This book is so great. The step by step details were so well photographed, and so detailed. The animals are so cute and so life-like. Katherine has so many suggestions on tools, from making your own to purchasing them. This was my first attempt at realistic animals. I've all ready made three of the cutest little animals, and everyone is asking where I bought them. I LOVE this book!

A "Must Have" for Polymer Clay Enthusiasts

Katherine Dewey has worked magic with this book. The instructions are clear and thorough enough that a even a beginning sculptor would be able to create wonderful likenesses of the animals portrayed. For those more familiar with the aspects of polymer clay and sculpting, this book contains valuable information and techniques that may be applied to an artist's own work; thereby improving its strength and quality. Katherine's use of armatures and proportion is well explained and portrayed, making this book an excellent learning resource for beginning sculptors, as well as a superb reference tool for advanced sculptors.
