Book Overview

Bev and Max can't turn back now... or can they?

The unforgettable adventure chronicled in Chat and Connect, the first two novels in Nan McCarthy's cyber series, continues in a third installment that's as fast-paced and addicting as ever. The year is 1997, and readers are once again invited to "eavesdrop" on Bev and Max's private correspondence.

When their story began, the unlikely pair--two strangers who met online--had nothing to share but their words. Now, following the path set in motion by their increasingly intimate exchanges, they must contemplate the consequences of their deepening relationship. Filled with sexual tension, suspense, and humor, Bev and Max's messages arouse in them a desire to do and say things they'd never have dreamed of before their lives intersected.

This newest edition of the trilogy features McCarthy's original ending to Crash as it was written in 1997. Its first time in print, the uncut conclusion offers readers an insider's glimpse of Bev and Max as they were meant to be seen--at their most human, vulnerable, and authentic.

Heralded as "Chekhov for the '90s," with "fully drawn, believable characters," the story of Bev and Max's electric mingling--with its jaw-dropping conclusion--serves as a powerful reminder that life may be fleeting, but love is forever.

Max :(

I could NOT believe ho this triology ended. I loved the books, they were great, i couldnt put them down, i read all three in one day, i felt like Max and Bev were people i knew, i felt like iw as apart of their love story. I saw a whole nother ending coming from things that were said earlier in the book, i did not see this ending coming at all, i had not been warned i wasnt ready for it, and it was like a punch in the stomach. I would love to have a 4th bokk written, i think that Nan left alot of open ends to write a 4th book with, i want to know waht happens to Bev. All three books are great, but dont buy one without all three at the same time, you will want to sit down and read all three. And be warned, the ending is extremly sad. But still good, done very tastefully.

The Bridges of Cyperspace County with a surprise twist

First off, do NOT buy one of these books without buying all three (Chat, Connect, Crash) at the same time - they really do have to be read all together. Secondly, do yourself a favor and don't download these books. Try to find them in book form becaue you'll want the originals to stay on your shelf, ready to be picked up and read again and again. Finally, here's the reason you should read this series: it is an orignal, well-done and witty flirtation and eventually full-blown romance between a man and woman who meet online. This is the FIRST romance series I ever read which was written from a cyber perspective, complete with emoticons (a crash course in them, in fact, useful if you've not particularly computer-savvy). I've read others since then but this is still my favorite. If you don't have much time to read but love a good romance, this one moves quickly but is fullfilling and emotionally engaging. Be forewarned: Have a box of Kleenex nearby!

Crashed plane!

This was a great book, like many people out there, I am dissapointed with the tragic ending to the cyberseries. I got hooked when I read the first novel "chat" and then had to read the other two. At 16 years old, there's only been very few books I've enjoyed reading. Please Nan McCarthy, surprise all of us with a 4th novel and bring Max back to life. :)

Romance and then what?

Maximilian and Beverly have been writing to each other and have been falling in love-- and the reader is privy to the moment. I loved this series, and was rooting for Max (I love Max!) and Bev. McCarthy's ending upset me terribly, so much that i wrote her an e-mail about it. Still I am a sucker for romances and this modern romance is witty, at times erotic, and always charming. I choose to believe that Max survives. Did i mention i love the character? Max is the kind of man many women long for. LOVED THE SERIES AND RECOMMEND IT TO EVERYONE. I f you like Manuel Puig's style, or romances, or if you correspond with people using this wonderful medium, then you will enjoy these books. I certainly did.

a modern love story

In these days of the internet world it is amazing what information we are able to obtain. Also amazing is the relationships it allows us to gather. These three books are a delightful read - letting us eavesdrop on a budding romance in cyberspace. Read all three today.
