While the pulmonary manifestations of COVID-19 initially dominated attention, it quickly became apparent that SARS-CoV-2 was capable of affecting multiple systems, particularly the gastrointestinal tract and the liver.Gastrointestinal and hepatic involvement, due to their frequency and prognostic significance, represent a major clinical challenge. They may be the initial presentation of the disease, alter isolation protocols, and influence therapeutic management.
