It was when she took the orders back to Royal that she noticed the man sitting at the end of the counter, watching all of this with a scrumptious smile on his handsome face. He didn't have dark beady eyes like snakes should have. No they were light gray and they were full of amusement which only made them stand out more.Lexi passed him with a cold stare. Her green eyes looked darker and deeper green than ever, and if she thought to disconcert him, she succeeded... for all the wrong reasons. She saw the admiration in his eyes and almost took the pitcher of tea she had just made and poured it over his tactless head. Thankfully Royal handed her a plate and she left to deliver it to its table. She came back to make two chocolate shakes. She let the chocolate syrup swirl around the glass to coat it before pouring the thick drink into the glass and topped it with whipped cream. She added a final thin drizzle of rich syrup over this and popped a bright red cherry on top. It wasn't her first attempt at making shakes and it was a work of art. She took another order out when she had served it and finally had a moment to introduce herself to Royal."I'm Lexi. Carlson and Fred told me your sign was still up. I meant to be here earlier but I was held up.""You are an answer to prayer beautiful. Remind me to give Fred a great big kiss the next time he comes in. As the sign reads, I am Royal, Maxwell. So you have done this before?""Two years, during High School, and all through College. I'll take those two hamburgers now... you put out a gourmet product Mr. Maxwell.""Hey, make it Royal, or Roy..." He watched her delightful body dance away with the heavy plates and winked at Cole sitting there with a stunned look on his face... well, well, well, well, well.Cole swiveled on his stool and watched her too. She had dark silky hair clipped up on top of her head in a haphazard way that framed her face and brought attention to her flawless skin. Her lips were delectable and he almost licked his own just watching her smile so radiantly at the customers. As she returned to the counter to get cold glasses of sodas, Cole swiveled back around to track her movements. He caught her peeved look at him and frowned.Had his fervent thoughts shown on his face? Naw, she would have slapped him by now if that were true. He spun on his stool again as she passed him to take another hot order to the couple by the window. Their laughter as she teased the obvious newlyweds made Cole ridiculously jealous. Her aloof look as she came to get more drinks, made him furious. He wanted one of those smiles! He wanted to kiss her silly! Cole spun back to face his plate and caught Roy's eye. He was thankful the anger showed and not his... hotter ideas."Have you met Lexi before and ticked her off?""No, I wouldn't have done anything so stupid."Roy laughed at his candid comment. "You better get back to work. Re-group...""Hey, the least you can do for that pile of dishes I tackled, is introduce me...""Okay, but... she doesn't look like she wants to be introduced to you. And since you are so uninterested in dating anyone, what's the use?""Introduce me or I'll never speak to you again." His tone was a little too firm but he couldn't help it.Roy laughed loud enough to draw the attention of the entire diner. Lexi came back smiling at his grin."You sounded much happier than when I came in.""You have no idea! Lexi, this is my nephew Cole. He comes in everyday for lunch now that his mother has put him into exile.""Hmm, I'm not surprised. Cole." Lexi turned to take her order and walked past Cole without waiting for his comment.Royal laughed at his nephew's puzzled stare. Not too many women walked past his looks. And for this gorgeous piece of femininity to ignore him completely was a new experience for him. Roy was sure of that! Oh, he liked this Lexi!
