The words are there

The words are there and I already knew the content would be useful and inspiring for recovery. It is a great book! However, this copy was described as”Good”. The Corners of book cover and all pages on upper left corner crushed-like the book was thrown. Binding broken. Took several Stickers off the book. I’d say poor quality...but, not as poor as the other book I purchased here!

healing book for those who need courage

I go to this book first thing in the morning--it's pages contain gems on how to live your life wisely, with or without an alcoholic family member, and contains relevant and varied quotes from wisdom texts. It reads like a friend is talking to you. However, the courage found in its pages are more deeply learned if you have worked the 12 Steps in a recovery group. It truly gives you courage to change your life when living with alcoholism. I prefer the compact version of this book.

Making Re-adjustments

Courage to Change is an An-Anon sanctioned publication which I found extremely useful in effecting my own personal recovery from my self-inflicted personality abuse. Accepting the need to make lifelong adjustments is necessary if one desires to achieve any semblance of happiness. This daily reader works if one works it.

a beautiful, hopeful, well-written book

as a daily reader, i feel this is the best, and a step up from al-anon's also-great "one day at a time" reader from the sixties, the predecessor of "the courage to change". the philosophy is powerful yet simple, positive but not squishy at all, the readings are comprehensive (as is the index - and you can look up just about any emotion you happen to be feeling and find a strong reading on it), the quotations are excellent, there's no gender bias, there's no attacking the alcoholic, and it's gentle from start to finish - but firm throughout.i would recommend this book to anyone whether you're in al-anon or not. it's a prime book in my library and life.

Inspirational and helpful!

I've been in recovery for five years, and I use this book to start my day. It's full of helpful recovery reminders that make it a very special source of inspiration for me. My relationship with Jesus Christ, the Bible, and this little book make my recovery possible. I'd recommend it to anyone who struggles with issues of codependency.
