This book changed my life.

Dwight was my personal coach for a year. With three marriages behind me, I lacked the personal courage to try again. Dwight changed all that, and here I am eight years into my fourth and FINAL marriage, blissed most of the time because of the courage he showed me I could have. Rock on, slide into home plate, grab that brass ring and be real. He shows you how to do it, and laugh at the same time!

Make Fear Your Ally and Create a Life You Love

Every once in a while a book comes along that really does have the power to change your whole life. This book is one of them. It belongs on the shelf of everyone who senses that there must be a simple way to grab the throttle of their lives, let go of the brakes, and find out what this "hot rod" called a human body/mind can really do on the highway of life. This book isn't about "courage" as we normally understand and use that word. In everyday usage, we think of courage as a personal asset that some of us are blessed with more than others, and that people so blessed have an advantage over others in being able to do the daring deeds that reap success in life, while Those who lack courage are seen as disadvantaged with respect to being creators of their lives and are more or less doomed to have their lives occur as whatever happens to them. For co-authors Dwight Goldwinde and Trish Coffey, courage is simply a choice and is available to everyone, always, in abundance. No one has more courage than anyone else. "Courageous" people simply choose courage more often than the rest of us. How could courage be merely a choice rather than a much desired virtue? This is a key insight, if not the key insight, of this book. It all boils down to how we relate to our fears. Fear is an essential form of vital energy in our lives. In those situations where we are truly in danger of harm, fear serves us by energizing us to fight, flee, or otherwise neutralize the danger. For most of us most of the time, however, fear arises in situations that contain not a shred of actual danger. A current circumstance or a contemplated action gives rise to a fear that has no present basis, but is simply a replay of some childhood event and our undigested reaction to it. Responding to this fear as if it's useful information about our present lives keeps us from truly being here in our present world. We live in the present as though it's the past with new names, addresses, and faces. We can't be of much use to ourselves when living this way. More effective living starts with the choice to be really present to what's right in front of us now, free of any projections from our unresolved past. But it gets better. Once we learn to discriminate between what's really here and what our unresolved fears overlay it with, we have more power to choose action appropriate to the present. Yet we still feel the fear, and most of us resist feeling it, maybe even especially when we feel "enlightened" about how obsolete the fear is for us. Still, there it is, and the resistance to it takes energy and attention that could otherwise be available for more effective choices and actions. To the authors, choosing courage is not about pushing through fear as if it's an enemy to be overcome on our way to triumph. Choosing courage is a compassionate turning towards our fear, rather than away from it, and embracing it as our friend. After all, it truly is in fact our friend, no matter

A Manual for Personal Courage

When I was first introduced (several years ago), to the writings and teachings of Dwight GoldWinde, I had a very different notion of the word "courage". Dwight's book expands your concept of courage and interjects it squarely into your everyday life - in the moment-to-moment decisions you make. As you become aware of the presence of your own courage and how it enables you to live and communicate authentically in the world, your perception radically changes and, I would imagine, Dwight smiles. This is a powerful book - it is also fun to read. I highly recommend it.

Courage is a resource like no other.

When I first picked up the book, I was daunted by the sheer size of it, nearly 700 pages thick. I didn't imagine I could finish it. But, when I got acclimated to the style of short essays, thought provoking questions and demonstrable little cartoons, I found that it read quite naturally, easily and I had trouble putting it down. The book is so incredibly and profoundly insightful and what kept me reading one essay after another, was the "carrot" of the next unique insight. When I finished the book, I knew I would refer to it often and reread the essays frequently as powerful contexts and support for what I'm up to in life. A big thank you to the authors. To potential readers I say, you can't go wrong with this book. It will absolutely make a difference for you. There is no other book like it.
