Stunning

This book carries the reader very gently and colorfully into an extremely powerful metaphor. It demonstrates so elegantly how those who are different can become part of a community when their creative expressions become woven into that community's fabric. When I started reading it to my 2 year old, I thought it was a book about colors. By the last page, I had tears in my eyes and waved my 5 year old over to read it to her. It instantly became one of my favorite children's books.

There was a blue boy who lived in a blue land where everything's blue - but he thinks life must be more colorful than this, so he and his best friend leave their blue land in search of more color. A New Classic

I'm an avid collector of children's books and I have to say that Courage of the Blue Boy is my new favorite. I love its message to children (of all ages) and of course, Neubecker's illustrations are breathtaking. Buy this book for your children as well as yourself!!!

Great message and wonderful colors!

It seems that the message we're giving kids is always one of caution. We warn them about everything that we don't want them to do and consequently forget to remind them of the good things to do. This book encourages those wonderful parts of life, like exploring and learning, and shows how rewarding they can be. Neubecker's colorful illustrations and endearing characters ensure that young readers and parents will be entertained and educated.
