Timing is everything. Tom just happened to be sitting on hisporch that night at the perfect time to see this "space rock" fall fromthe sky. His old dog just happened to be awake instead of snoozingwhile Tom stroked her back, looking out at the horizon also atthe perfect time to see the object fall, and, if Tom had watchedthis round object just for just another minute or so, instead of hisgrabbing his dog and dragging her home, he would have seen asmall opening appear on its side. A window? A door? Watchingfurther, he would have seen something narrow appear out of theopening. A leg? A probe? Tom would have then seen this narrowthing dig into the dirt, move about for several minutes, disappearback into the opening, the small orb vibrate almost violently and, like a small turtle, bury itself into the soil
