Great ideas

This book is filled with wonderful ways and ideas on how to improve literacy in your students. I just wish a book about improving literacy had more variety in writing style to reach a larger reading audience.

Good book for new teachers

This book is very low on theory and high on actual practical strategies that you can use in your classroom. The description is a little misleading. It is true that this book is about diverse classrooms, but most of the strategies can be used in classrooms that are not diverse. They are just good solid strategies that make sense in any environment. The best thing is that there are actual illustrations of the strategies and that they are very, very specific and can easily be implemented. Many of them are actually very simple and won't take up a lot of class time to teach. I tried using some of them and they worked very well. I think this should be one of the books every teacher should read.

A Book that has actual strategies for teachers.

This book is very well organized and will be useful for teachers in any content area - even math students have to read well! It has strategies to help students comprehend what they are reading and activities to help teachers motivate their students.
