I always refer to this book whenever I'm cooking for a crowd that includes a vegetarian. The dishes are so varied and delicious that I'm sure I could cook exclusively from this book for a year and never get a complaint from the family. (And they're not vegetarian!) You just don't miss meat when the flavours are so good. If you like getting compliments about your cooking, use this book. In fact, I've never had a failure with any Charmaine Solomon recipe! (I have all her books.)
Much more than big salad dishes and oversized "sides"

My dad has this book and he made the ratalouille (not sure on spelling). WOW - it was delicious! My husband, who is a big meat and potatoes eater (and usually insists on meat at just about every meal) loved it and even wants me to cook it at home! The book seems to have something for everyone - and the recipes look delicious, like onion tarts and stuffed mushrooms, and... I can't believe this book is out of print! Sigh... This books draws from the west, the east, and a combination. It's wonderful and I hope I'm able to find a copy in ZShops!
