One extremely useful & practical book for band singers

As a professional singer, I've read many books that purport to teach you how to be a "pro." This one is easy enough for beginners, but, for me, when I bought it a few years ago to learn how to deal with bands and combos, it was like finishing school. His early chapters on styles, jargon, how to notate a chart so a band will be right with you first time through, or even the hand signals to communicate everything the band needs to know without even seeing a chart, are just excellent. It really is a "How to be a Professional" book. Pickard keeps it practical and straightforward all the way through, as if he were just coaching you through the process. I recommend it to friends all the time.
