I've Pitched The Dunce Cap!

I will confess. I am a closet complete idiot's guide lover. I've read just about every edition I've been able to lay hands on. This, by far was one of my favorites and has taken a prominent place on my bookshelf. I was most amazed by how MUCH you can clean with the simplest and most inexpensive of products such as baking soda, rubbing alcohol, peroxide, amonia, petroleum jelly, salt and other common household staples. So far, every tip and trick I've tried as suggested by the author has worked like a charm! I've never been high maintenance, so eliminating the waste that continually strips my pocketbook will be a blessing! Now, if the book would only do the work FOR me! lol

Homemade Wallpaper Remover?

As a new homeowner, I purchased this book to help me with the day to day chores of owning a home. We bought a 15 year old house that was in great condition - but that had 15 year old wallpaper in every room. I had stripped a few rooms before buying this guide. I was very dubious about the homemade solution of equal parts water and vinegar to strip wallpaper. Vinegar and water, to strip vinyl wallpaper off my bathroom walls? No way. IT WORKED LIKE A CHARM! Easy, virtually free and no mess! I've told all my friends who re-decorate to use this tip!As far as the rest of the book, it gives very good, clear and concise information, directions and tips on everything from cleaning your house, to feeding your family. It's a wonderful guide for any new (or not so new) homeowner to have on hand!
