Colorful celebration of diversity

Lush colors of illustration, and the selection of poems is from around the world,as the title indicates.We have people of diverse skin colors on the rainbow colored pages and the poems deal with many issues. One poem starts "Children comes in all colors of the earth" and talks about diversity among humans, another one is about mixing and frying pancakes, others deal with serious issues as poverty, giving children the opportunity to develop a view about the world which needs change and compassion. Hurt no living thing poem is also an excellent intro to compassion toward insects, The Pines is talking about falling threes by "men with saws," talking about preciousness of nature, so vulnerable to human destruction. A nice book for exposing children not only to poetry, but to the world in terms a young humans being can understand.Excellent anthology, excellent, simple. Colorful illustrations, full of charm, fine poems with good, humane messages.
