A great color resource

This is an excellent book, written by someone who is truly a "color expert." After reading this book, you’ll be able to select a color scheme to create an intended effect. In my opinion, one of the most helpful aspects of this book was Ms. Eiseman’s list of 15 neutral colors listed on page 59. It’s easy for most of us to pick one or two colors that go together pretty well, but after that things get pretty confusing. These 15 neutral colors, which go with absolutely any color scheme, are wonderful for selecting colors from across the spectrum that will remain harmonious with any color scheme. And you might be surprised to find that colors like True Red or Midnight Navy are "neutral colors." You will find lots of interesting details like this in the book.Although this book is in and of itself an excellent resource, I don’t believe that it can be considered a complete resource without the reader also having a copy of the Pantone Textile Color Guide Paper Edition as its companion (and the author makes reference to that on page 173). As with any printed book, the colors of this book are not reproduced exactly as they were intended. However, the Pantone guide gives you a dead-on perfect rendition of the colors Ms. Eiseman cites in the book. This is important if you want to match up paint swatches or fabric colors to those in the book.

Confused about Colors - Then, you NEED This Book!!

Colors have always been a great mystery to me. I love them, but have never been able to make them Work!This book is my solution. It provides not only indept information about each color and what part of the house to use it, it provides information on the emotional use of color.Now I must decide if colors in my rooms should be traditional, whimsical, rustic, etc. I am adicted to this book. I wake up at night and turn on the light to look at certain colors again.Wonderful book!

An indepth guide to understanding color

Lee Eiseman's book really helped me understand why certain colors and color combinations work in a home. Once you understand how certain colors affect you, then your decorating choices become clearer. This is a great book to have if you are buying a new home, remodeling, or simply redecorating. The Pantone color chips that are printed in the books are very helpful in illustrating various color combinations. I especially enjoyed Lee's rich descriptions of color.

Practical and easy to use info on color, a great book!

Lee is THE expert when it comes to color. I met her at a "colorful" lecture she gave for interior designers, and this book is as wonderful as she is. So often it is hard, especially for the novice, to figure out what we want our interior spaces to look like! This book is the right place to start. It will help you figure out what atmosphere or feeling you want your space to have by beginning with the color mood. The photos are great, and the color combinations are very well done and a provide a great springboard for the imagination. While the text is well done and very useful, you can get a lot accomplished by just looking at the pictures of the color combinations and the great photography.This is an excellent book for beginners, designer-wanna-bes as well as professionals who deal with color and color-combinations for a living. Interior designers will find it helpful in that it is a great resource to show a client who can't verbalize what colors/moods they want you to create for them. I highly recommend this book!
