Fantastic pictures

We LOVE this book. It has really great pictures and vivid colors. The only thing I would hope would be that it could be a bit more durable, but what do you expect with a toddler? If you're looking for a good book to teach colors, that can fit easily into a diaper bag to take along with you, this is it.

Another Great DK Lift the Flap Book

We have all the DK lift the flap books ... nice and sturdy, great pics. We started with Baby Talk, moved on to Animal Talk, Noisy Farm, and Noisy Trucks, and got this Colorful World book around 18 mos. Now at 24 mos, our son still loves (and has memorized) all the earlier books and continues to learn from the Colorful World and (recently purchased) Words in My World, both of which are "busier" than the previously mentioned titles and are suitable for young toddlers who are beginning to articulate more words and concepts.

My 14-month-old loves it!

My 14-month-old daughter has a lot of books and we have been reading to her since she was a very young baby. Right around the time she turned one, she started to become more interested in pointing at individual objects in her books and wanting me to name them instead of just listen to me reading through the whole book. She was given one of the My First Words board book (also by DK Publishing - I'm also very found of DK Publishing in general.) but she wasn't too interested in them for the longest time, probably because there are a lot of objects on the same page and they are too overwelming for her age. We have had this book for about a month now. It has just the right amount of objects on each page. The pages are organized by color, obviously. The objects are bright and colorful. My daughter also has a lot of fun flipping open the flaps on each page. I like how the pictures are photographs of actual objects and not drawings, because with drawings sometimes they don't always represent the actual object well. I carry this book in my diaper bag every day. When my daughter gets antsy when we sit down in a restaurant - she is a fairly, what's the word, "mobile" child :) - I just take out this book and read it with her. She will read it over and over and now she loves having me asking her "Where is such and such" so she can say or point to the objects herself. (No, she doesn't talk yet, she just says certain one, two or three syllable words in a very baby-ish way.) She now wants to read her My First Words board book too, but she won't sit through the whole book yet. I think this books definitely helped.
