Clyve Barns, a new loyal and hard-working ranch hand, was willing to go beyond expectations. Perhaps it was the values his father instilled in him. Where others had exhausted, he drove on through a thunderstorm alone to pursue the man who was killing the livestock. He wouldn't come off that mountain the same man. Falsely accused of working with the shooter, he was given one chance: to run. To ride out and never look back. The other option was to be hung by the neck until dead. Yet, if every man in the canyon wanted him at the end of a rope, why was he given the chance to ride out? If you beat a dog long and hard enough, it will either turn tail and run, lay down and die, or bite back. Clyve wasn't the kind to just tuck his tail in and run and he sure wasn't ready to die. The storm wasn't over. It had just begun. A funny thing about that hell storm... it seemed to be the most stable thing in the canyon.
