Cloaked

By A.D. Justice

For twenty-one years, Sara thought she was ordinary.

Ordinary was the cloak.

Sara has always been able to hear what people don't say out loud - a quiet knack she's learned to bury in the small Montana town where her grandmother raised her. Then the shop is ransacked, her grandmother vanishes without a trace, and the life Sara thought she knew splits open to show what was underneath it all along: she is Saraya Nemertes, hidden heir to a realm she's never seen, her true self sealed behind a cloaking meant to break on her twenty-first birthday.

Beyond the gate lies Covis Realm - mages and warlocks, elves and dragons, a world that drove its own magic into hiding and left a throne standing empty, waiting for her. So is Saban: the lord who was never meant to be hers, and the one pull she can't reason her way out of.

But something in the dark has spent two decades erasing her bloodline, and her birthday is coming fast. When the cloak falls, everyone will know exactly who she is.

Including the thing that's been hunting her since before she was born.
