The issue of climate change affects people's well-being, especially those living in rural areas who depend on agriculture. It is well known that without adequate rainfall, plants cannot grow properly, and their productivity will suffer as a result. Like other areas affected by climate change, Bunyakiri is no exception. We therefore gathered the views of the rural population of Bunyakiri regarding climate change. According to our findings, 91.58% of the surveyed population in Mutembo is aware of climate change. The primary indicator they cite for climate change is a decline in agricultural yields, cited by 87.05% of our respondents. According to them, the main cause is excessive deforestation, cited by 37.64% of our respondents. The major consequence of this change is the disruption of the agricultural calendar, cited by 74.11% of our respondents. In addition to lower agricultural yields, this leads to an inability to meet family needs, as reported by 78.82% of our respondents. Finally, 74.11% of the population is willing to help reduce the effects leading to climate change.
