June 26, 2009 Finished. Withing the poems in this book I see the movements of Barbizon, Abstract, Surrealism and Fantasy. Of course all poetry is subjective and a construct from within the mind of the individual poet. So far so good. For $1.00 how can I go wrong. The authors chose the best poets from Bulgaria and showcase their respective works. Most of the poetry is short, sweet and to the point. I Love the use of imagery and metaphors. Metamorphosis of ideas, themes and subjects. The Bulgarian poets paint pictures with words. All poets or poems attempt to do this but some poetry is so abstract that for me it does not resonate. Since I work in a museum when I read certain of the poems I get a picture in my mind of which paintings at the museum would go or work with a particular poem. The book was originally released in 1992 and it would be great to re-release it accompanied by the Bulgarian artwork. I am really enjoying reading this book. I have a very good friend who is Bulgarian and I am going to get his opinion on the book and the poets sometime this week. My friend briefly looked at the book during our break time. He or his father knew or know many of the writers in the book. After I finish reading it he would like to read the book to see if the English translation is true to the Bulgarian language. Of course we know it can't be completely but it probably comes close.
