Chuppiyon Ki Gunj

The Novel portrays the Psychological state of a home maker and depicts the suffering and emotional torment she endures. The protagonist, creating 'A Home' dissolves her identity within the domestic sphere. Externally she appears contended and complete- a well maintained house, an ideal family, social respect and all material comforts. Yet within, she undergoes a deep sense of emptiness that grows with time. Her presence in the household become an unnamed existence. What she performs is taken as 'her duty'. She realizes that she is only 'a wife', 'a mother', 'a daughter-in-law', without any identity of her own. Her identity is vanished between the heat of the kitchen, the grooming of her children, the expectation of relatives and ambitions of her husband. In this process she feels emotionally devastated from within. The novel brings forth the sense of alienation and feeling of estrangement through internal dialogs. She hears the voice of her soul and decides to rise up again. She accepts the journey self-revelation and transformation and embarks on a new path for herself. The novel becomes a sensitive autobiography of countless home makers.
