St. Ignatius finished the Spiritual Exercises in 1524. He wrote them as a set of instructions, a method for encountering God through imagination, examination, and desire. Christmas Prayers is a working translation of that method into cards.
Seventy-eight cards. Eight sacred categories. Two readings per card: the consolation face and the desolation face, one for peace, one for resistance. Twelve spreads map each to a distinct exercise from the Exercises. The result is a combinatory prayer practice: not fortune-telling, not self-help, but a daily or occasional structure for the kind of interior prayer Ignatius called finding God in all things.
The card is the prompt. The prayer is the point.
