Powerful and Practical

This is a practical and very powerful book for anyone looking for immediate solution to overcome the "negative beliefs". Such beliefs are so often being ignored and as a result keeping one forever trapped in vicious cycle of negative self-fulfiling prophecy. It is a joy reading this book, as it led me to have a much clearer understanding of the "unconscious adverse conditioning" because of human ignorance, aggravated by the mass media which thrive on negative news reporting. This book opens up a new frontier of possibility for anyone willing to change, through seletive conscious learning, as well as subliminal method which when apply properly is most beneficial in achieving positive results and self empowerment. My family and I learn to become more selective in conducting our daily activities with regards to entertainment and media exposure. I also like the humane aspect, which is so much lacking in our present day society and this book would no doubt help in the re-awakening of the general public towards such direction. Most important of all, this book not only helps one to identify the inherent issues, but to provide effortless and effective solution. Our family and friends are now benefiting from the use of the InnerTalk technologies created by the author in improving the quality of our lives. This is a must read book for anyone who is seriously looking for change.

Enlightening Read

I purchased two copies of Dr. Taylor's newest book, Choices and Illusions. One to read, and one to share with my grown children. I have read Eldon's previous works, and I knew that as soon as I started to read it, my kids' would want to borrow it! I just read the other reviews, and I want to add my perspective on them. I can understand how someone might interpret Eldon's book as an "advertisement" for his CD programs, since he refers to them as he writes. But to someone who read his work on subliminals, early on before anyone even HEARD of subliminals, I wanted to clear up the misconceptions that some are experiencing....Dr. Taylor is not advertising his other work....he is referring to it because he has LIVED the last many decades of his life, totally researching the mind and the subconscious. If you meet a doctor on the street and talk to him, he/she will refer to medical issues, since that is what they do. If you meet an artist, such as myself, I might describe my accomplishments in ways that might appear self-serving, but I would merely be explaining how I am who I am today based on my life as an artist. That is what Eldon is doing in this newest book. He is teaching....in his wonderfully casual, and yet sometimes very technical way....and he is sharing...all that he has discovered with his passion to unlock the secrets of the mind and the subconscious. He only refers to that which he has created.....much as an artist would suggest that you look at their creations to see who they are. I have read every book that Dr. Wayne Dyer has written....an awesome author. And the series by James Redfield. Also, a wonderful author. My grown children have learned from these authors, many lessons that I have shared with them as I quoted them from my memory, after reading and learning from them. I hope that anyone reading this review, will realize that Dr. Taylor has a wealth of information to share with the world....that his research into subliminal communication....that his desire to write this book was fueled by his true desire to help those around him, and to help us all understand that we are not here alone. That no matter what we learned from any religion, any teacher, any parent in our lives, that we are here for a purpose that is integrally connected to the source, the one that created all of us. That this life is not random....for if it were, why would we all be seeking knowledge beyond the tried and true? And if you are questioning, or doubting, or wondering where do you fit in this plan.....then you should buy this book and read it....slowly....digest the words and read and re-read it. For they are powerful words and they will change your life.

Dr. Taylor's best work to date

I have read almost everything Dr. Eldon Taylor has ever written. Today I am a licensed psychologist and incorporate many of the principles he presents in Choices and Illusions with my clients. I had the very unique opportunity in the nineteen eighties of developing some research protocols and affirmation scripting with Dr. Taylor. I do not believe that we knew the answers but I know that we were asking the questions. At that time there were many skepticans and critics. I do not know where thay are now. Over the years Dr. Taylor has worked very hard to develop technology that works. At the time he started there were methods for helping people but he took it far beyond that by developing an empirically replicable system for helping people at very little expense to them. I am most pleased to be able to say that I was there and played some part in his work. He has followed his script in helping others and has matured the processes quite well. In my opinion this book is the product of his years of hard work. It is an essential component for the home library and for the younger generation encapsulates cogent insights to expanding self awareness and taking charge of one's life, because the more one can understand themselves, the higher quality of life can be much more fully experienced. I highly recommend Choices and Illusions and can personally vouch for the quality of Dr. Eldon Taylor's work and the quality and high ideals of the man himself. Charles McCusker, Ph.D.

Choices and Illusions--Carry It With You

I read the recommendations for this book on the first couple of pages and thought to myself, "I hope it's just partially as good as all the praise says it is." Okay, I read the book and then I read parts of it over, and over and over. Unreal! With clarity the likes of which I have rarely encountered, this jewel goes right to the nature of who we are, why we are and how we can become all that we know inside we are capable of but never quite accomplish. This is a solid five stars and carry it with you!

Consciousness and personal empowerment

This illuminating book explores self-imposed boundaries in our thinking, the mechanics of perception, consciousness, subliminal communication and how real change is possible. Because of limited thinking, most people do not realize that they have a wider range of choices available. This is discussed in chapter 1 and explained by simple illustrations and exercises. Chapter 3 deals with perception, illusions and the role of language in limiting our awareness, the mind's habit of making non-existent connections and of missing the obvious. The failures of the mind can be used against us by for example subliminal advertising. The next chapter briefly covers psychological defense mechanisms like denial, fantasy formation, introjection, isolation, projection, regression, repression and sublimation. In chapter 5, the author discusses the brain hemispheres, the history of subliminal communication and its practical application. A model of mind and behaviour is provided in the next, plus a discussion of the power of forgiving and the benefits of giving, while chapter 7 deals with the famous Judas Priest trial of two teenagers who shot themselves after repeatedly listening to a track from the Stained Class album by that metal band. Subsequent chapters investigate mind as a non-local event, the power of belief, and empathy and unconditional love as the way to build self-esteem. The chapter titled Change discusses character and how it is formed. This chapter includes an interview with neurologist Dr Christian Enescu plus many testimonials of people who have benefited from Dr Taylor's subliminal programs. The book concludes with a discussion of the awesome power of the mind and revisits the ways of overcoming limitations in awareness. Our life purpose is about serving and giving, a proven way of achieving divine potential. The mind is the starting point for our lifelong journey of self-actualization and it is never too late to begin. The text is enhanced by many fascinating illustrations throughout Appendix A: The Science Of Innertalk provides an overview of 17 scientific studies that confirm the benefits of subliminal programs and Appendix B is an abstract of findings from a study by Charles McCusker at Utah State Prison using the Thurstone Temperament Schedule. The book concludes with bibliographic notes and a recommended reading list. I regard this book as an important contribution to the study of consciousness and a realistic guide to improving one's life and enriching those of others. I also recommend Thinking Without Thinking: Who's in Control of Your Mind and Subliminal Communication: Emperor's Clothes or Panacea? by the same author who is a pioneer in the field of subliminal communication and its practical application.
