Highly practical review of child psychopharmacology

Of all the texts available on the subject of the psychopharmacology of childhood psychiatric disorders this is the one I like the best. The main reason is the care and detail in which Dr. Kutcher sets forth the (for me) basic axiom of treating children, which is that each child is unique, so each medication trial is, in effect, a research experiment with a N of 1. He provides an excellent range of measurement tools, including making up your own for specific symptoms. There are lots of good clinical examples which ground medication in the context of the child and family. All in all an unusually practical and well-written book. Wm. Bolman, M.D., Clinical Professor of Child Psychiatry
