Nobody wants to need a book like this.
If you're reading it, chances are you've recently had a conversation that changed things - the kind where the room goes quiet and your brain starts working about three seconds behind everything the doctor is saying. I know that conversation. I've had it.
This book isn't here to be relentlessly positive. It isn't going to tell you to fight like a warrior, find the silver lining, or approach chemotherapy as a journey of personal growth. It's going to tell you the truth - warmly, practically, and occasionally with the kind of dark humour that gets you through a waiting room at 8am when you'd really rather be anywhere else.
There will be hard days. There will be days when you don't recognise your body, your appetite, or your own face in the mirror. There will also be days that are more manageable than you feared, moments of unexpected lightness, and a version of yourself you'll come to respect enormously.
This guide is designed to help you navigate all of it - the side effects, the emotions, the admin, the relationships, the food, and the strange aftermath of treatment ending. It's written for people at every stage: newly diagnosed, mid-treatment, or coming out the other side and trying to make sense of what happens next.
Each chapter ends with practical takeaways. Use them however works for you - read cover to cover, dip in and out, or tear out the bits you need (metaphorically, if you have the ebook version).
You don't need to have it all together. You just need to show up. The rest, we'll figure out.
