Parallel worlds

This trans-dimensional love story and whodunnit is skilfully and naturally written, but it doesn't seem particularly interesting until about page 30 -- then it really sucks you in. The reason for the title is explained on the last page. Ironically, I think the author has the wrong word: I believe he means Chimera.
