Combine the surprising truth about brain food with the cutting-edge science of brain metabolism to achieve extraordinary improvements to your emotional, cognitive, and physical health.
Are you struggling with attention problems, mood swings, food obsession, or depression? Whatever the issue, you have far more control over your thoughts, feelings, and behavior than you realize. Although medications may bring some relief, in Change Your Diet, Change Your Mind, Dr. Georgia Ede reveals that the most powerful way to change brain chemistry is with food, because that's where brain chemicals come from in the first place. In this provocative, illuminating guide, Dr. Ede explains why nearly everything we think we know about brain-healthy diets is wrong. We've been told the way to protect our brains is with superfoods, supplements, and plant-based diets rich in whole grains and legumes, but the science tells a different story: not only do these strategies often fail, but some can even work against us. The truth about brain food is that meat is not dangerous, vegan diets are not healthier, and antioxidants are not the answer. Change Your Diet, Change Your Mind will empower you to: understand how unscientific research methods drive fickle nutrition headlines and illogical dietary guidelines weigh the risks and benefits of your favorite foods so you can make your own informed choices about what to eat evaluate yourself for signs of insulin resistance--the silent metabolic disease that robs your brain of the energy it needs to thrive improve your mental health with a choice of moderate-carbohydrate and ketogenic diets that you can personalize to your food preferences and health goals Drawing on a wide range of scientific disciplines including biochemistry, neuroscience, and botany, Dr. Ede will ignite your curiosity about the fascinating world of food and its role in nourishing, protecting, and energizing your brain.

Dr. Ede is a hero. She's a Harvard grad MD and has the intellectual prowess to micro anaylze reports, especially those inundated with bias. She leaps over garbage epidemiological studies and leads us to real science, explaining the dietary cause of mental illness. She also explains how a keto diet, with a specific ketone level can prevent Alzeimers and Dementia. Saying one is on a ketogenic diet doesn't appear to be effective unless ketone levels are between .7 to 3.0. In three weeks I lost eight pounds, and my high blood pressure is gone. My doctor prescribed a blood pressure medication. I opted to clean up my diet instead. My partner's fasting glucose for the first time in over a decade is below 100, and a relative of ours is dropping their med for schizophrenia as the depression dissapeared, mood positivity dramatically increased, and the internal hallucinations have dramatically reduced to practically zero.
I incidentally found an article on a young 12 year old girl who had gluten psychosis and extreme schizophreia like symptoms. She was healed going on a gluten free diet.
After all these years it appears a primal diet of minimal whole food carbs, guality proteins, and saturated fats like tallow or butter, is all we need to properly nourish our brains and bodies. Chelating plant foods with deleterious lectins and or oxylates should be consumed in moderation if at all depending on one's sensitivity and symptom reaction. It appears carbs are merely optional, quality protein and fats are not.
Dr. Ede refers to a book titled "The Big Fat Surprise" by Nina Teicholz, that is a must read for further reaffirmation of understanding how we got hoodwinked to believe low fat was healthy when all the studies supporting that cause was bogus. Fictionalized associations were made with the medditeranian diet. The researchers on the 7 countries diet botched the truth and hid the fact that the Greeks, before the low fat westernized ideas hypnotized them to alter their cultural diet, which nearly half of their calories came from foods swimming in olive oil. They had health and longevity. The beurocratic scientists had no reservations of altering reality. They switched hypothesis after the data was collected along with data to suit their campaign. This book is an absolute must read.
On Dr. Ede's keto program this is our
Experience. Our relative had extremely good responses to the keto diet, so much so that the fasting glucose dropped to a low 68 and ketones over 3.0. The first time that happened, ate a plain yogurt with honey and blueberries to boost up glucose. Two hours later was retested and ketone level was .7, almost out of ketosis. The next time, a few days later, the result was 70 glucose and slightly over 3.0 ketones. Ate just plain yogurt with a stevia fruit flavoring. Two hours later the glucose was 87 and ketones were 1.1. It seems like the fruit and honey elevated the glucose too much and nearly got them out of ketosis.
Our relative's doctor says this is a hard diet many may not have the strength/willpower to maintain. I sincerely hope you all try it. You will be amazed at the healthy transformations. This feels like a miracle really. Dr. Ede's videos are helpful on Youtube as well.

This book is filled with practical advice explaining how to use diet as a mental health intervention. Dr Ede does a wonderful job of exposing the flaws behind common nutritional recommendations while still leaving room for personal adaptations.
