Finding Your Change Talent Inside

"Today, being bright and talented isn't enough. One must also know how to navigate and survive in a world governed by constant and at times, barbaric change." This quote came from "Without Warning" by Rodney Johnson, and it captures the essence of "Change at the Core." Change inside any organization is easy to talk about, difficult to implement. There are plenty of books about the process, this book gets at the core of how to find the intrinsic talent inside an organization and then how to organize and unleash it. "Change at the Core" is essential reading. And given today's challenging economic times, "Change at the Core" is timely, as organizations are forced to change quickly.

Excellent Book

Mack and Radio offer a fantastic approach to help ensure that organizational change efforts are successful. Their approach, by drawing on the core values of employees, highlights the importance of taking a positive, strength-oriented perspective to motivate employees. The book is written in an engaging, easy-to-understand format and is a must read for managers who want to improve employee buy-in and success when implementing an organizational change. As a management professor, I am excited to use this book in class when talking to MBA students about how to get the most out of their employees!

A New Take on Managing Change

Change at the Core offers a fresh and insightful approach to managing change in an organization. Mack and Radio argue that to be truly effective, you need to start at the micro-level, with the individual. This book clearly outlines how to tap into individuals'internal energy in order to minimize resistance and get results. This practical, easy to read book is full of concepts that can be applied in all types of organizations, or as an individual undergoing professional or personal change. I highly recommend it for those not just in HR or management positions, but for anyone who is facing change.

MUST Read

This is a MUST read for anyone involved in change efforts--either as participants in as well as those leading change initiatives. There are numerous books that discuss change at the macro level but then fall short on how to make change happen. As anyone who has been involved in change initiatives knows, change is easy to talk about but in reality challenging to make it happen. This books show the how. As someone who has lead as well as participated in numerous change efforts - in the private sector, the federal government as well as an entrepreneur, I wish I had this available to me earlier in my career. The book is easy to read, provides a clear actionable process, and contains numerous very rich examples of how many in business settings have applied and benefited by this revolutionary approach in successfully implementing change efforts.

Energize your team around change

Change at the Core takes a new look at leading change. Though most change management resources focus on change at a macro-level, this practical field book focuses on preparing leaders at all levels in the organization to harness the energy of their staff members in a positive way and direct it toward propelling the team forward. The exercises and worksheets helped me to immediately apply the concepts. I'd recommend the book to managers; HR, OD, and training specialists; and anyone consulting with organizations to support change initiatives. Deanna Banks, Ph.D. President, Banks Consulting, LLC
