*4.5 stars.
A grief-stricken Denji goes to Makima unable to cope after having been forced to kill a friend, unknowing of her true motivation and psychopathy. Denji's pain will only multiply in the coming days as the mad woman he loves, uses him for her bidding.
Normally, I do my best to let the story and art speak for itself. However, I must speak a very strong opinion here: Makima must die. I don't want to give any spoilers, so I'm just going to leave it there and if you make it to volume 10, you will completely understand within the first 44 pages, if not before that, why those are my feelings about her.
Now that does bring me to a valid point and neutral opinion, that most of the characters in this world seem to die rather quickly after being introduced. A few have made it quite a few volumes but still not that far in the grand scheme of things. The pacing is great, the art is beautiful, and the characters are all well rounded, even the very short-lived ones. But it does kind of make it hard to get attached to any one character with the feeling that they're going to die within the next volume or so.
I am very excited to make it to volume 11 to see how this arc finishes up and what's in store next for the remaining characters!
