The Life Of A City Through The Lives Of Its Achievers
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 18 years ago
In "Centuries of St. Louis", Fr. Faherty tells the history of St. Louis through vignettes of the lives of twenty-three of its people of achievement. While some of the subjects are familiar figures to contemporary citizens while others are obscure, all have stories worth telling. In selecting his subjects, Fr. Faherty selected figures from education, sports, religion, philanthropy, and government. Averaging four to six pages each, he does an excellent job of weaving the lives of his subjects into the story of the city. Although a quick read, "Centuries of St. Louis" packs a lot into its one hundred eighteen pages.
