In June 2014, twenty-eight students, four teachers, and a few parents and grandparents traveled from tiny little Minooka, Illinois all the way across the Atlantic to take an educational tour of Central Europe, visiting Poland, Slovakia, Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic.During their travels, they experienced the history of Warsaw, the culture of Krakow, the horrors of Auschwitz, the beauty of Bratislava, the wonders of Vienna, the scenery in Salzburg, the music of Munich, and the majesty of Prage. Each year we create a new book about our destination, written by the students and teachers that are involved in our program, as well as some of the kids that have traveled with us in the past and those that hope to travel with us in the future.Minooka TAP is a group of teachers who really believe that getting your hands dirty and experiencing the world is the best way to learn about it. We thing that seeing where history happened, standing in front of ancient monuments and prized works of art, eating weird foods, and immersing yourself in a foreign culture is the best way to learn. We've dedicated our time to creating annual trips overseas so that local students can experience the world in new and unique ways. The world is our classroom.
