Book Overview

It takes a cat to write the purr-fect mystery. Things have been pretty exciting lately in Crozet, Virginia--a little too exciting if you ask resident feline investigator Mrs. Murphy. Just as the town... This description may be from another edition of this product.

Animals are smarter!

What a nice and relaxing mystery! I do not know how Rita does it, but she makes provincial America so likeable although she always describes hideous crimes. And in addition the ending might be frustrating for some, but such is life. It happens all the time in reality. And then the animals: I like their subtly described characters; they seem to be alive ansd much smarter than humans. You forget they are animals. They play a decisive dramatic role in her novels. A splendid idea! I recommend the book to all those who like traditional mysteries, but also to those people who like nice relaxing stories with a lot of humour in them. Rita, please, let us have some more Mrs. Murphy mysteries!

A Good Read

After reading one book in this series I was hooked. I read to escape the daily stress and pressure our modern world throws at us. If I want reality I'll watch the evening news. It is easy to visualize the three friends working together as a team. It was one of the best parts of this book. My advice, relax and enjoy these tails again and again!

As always Rita Mae Brown's are entertaining!

I enjoy all of Rita Mae Brown's "Sneaky Pie" books. My daughter who is of college age and I have read the entire series. As we have cats of our own, it adds to the entertainment! The only complaint I had was what happened to the killer in the end. It was a different approach then usual. I'm not sure I liked it. But it was intriqing! I'm anxious for the next book to see if she did anything else with the circumstances.

Another enjoyable read

Enjoyed this latest entry in the series, but after the climatic rescue at the end, I have one question......does this make Mrs Murphy and Pewter eligible for MENSA membership?? :-) Despite all the silliness, I still enjoy the stories very much. One major complaint though.... THE NEW ILLUSTRATOR!!!!!! The drawings of the animals are very crude compared to the previous exquisite work of Wendy Wray. I have always looked forward to the wonderful illustrations and was horribly disappointed. Mrs Murphy is striped like a barber pole....and is that supposed to be Simon on p.205?? Try looking a possum some time, that is NOT one. Looks like an armadillo head to me. Bring back Wendy!!!!!!Laura Clemons

Another wonderful mystery with Mrs. Murphy and Tucker

I had only ever read one R.M. Brown novel, and that was "Riding shotgun." As a horsey person, I read it for the foxhunting element. Then a friend of mine was involved in the filming of the foxhunting sequence in the Disney movie, "Murder, she purred." After enjoying the movie, I decided to read the books. These are great, fun mysteries full of characters who are just that, characters. I'm only a sometime mystery reader, but I quickly gobbled up all six R.M. Brown mysteries that I could get my hands on. Please, Rita, write another one soon! We dog, cat, horse lovers need another book from you and Sneaky Pie!
