While Dave was working, he and his wife, Nancy, would have each of the grandchildren come and visit for a few days each summer. After Dave retired from his job, Nancy and he decided to have as many grandchildren come at one time and stay for four days. He decided to join the local Rotary Club, and their meetings were on Thursday. Therefore, they picked up the kids on Sunday and took them home on Thursday morning. What made it special was the fact that the grandchildren lived in different cities and didn't see each other often. This was a way for them to know their cousins better.
They came up with the idea of having a camping experience with them. They had crafts, activities, and games just like you would at a camp. They also decided that each child be at least five to be able to be part of all the activities. After they had completed a couple of successful experiences, there were many people who were interested in what their "camp" was about because it sounded so much fun and the kids wanted to come back every year.
