Calm indeed

This is a beautiful book of essays from a modern-day contemplative weaving loving threads of awareness through family and art. The title, Calm things, is taken from the Japanese for still life. And since Lemay's husband Robert is a still life artist (his art is on the cover), the explorations are daily and personal. I highly recommend it.

A book to savour

This is a book of such style and depth that it's best not to read all the essays at once. Read one, and give it a day or two to work its magic on you. Then to the next and so on. You will be rewarded.

Serene and beautiful...

This volume of essays provides a unique view of domestic life and our relationship to the mundane. Through Lemay's eyes, the prosaic becomes poetic and the boring becomes beautiful. A thoroughly engaging work!
