An account of one woman's personal journey from the frustration of a "perfect" role of wife and mother, to the freedom and anxiety of "a fling". The book tells of her self-discovery with emotions... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Sure, she's self-obsessed; yes, its like reading someone else's secret diary and who doesn't want to do that; but at the end of the day, Inette tried her best to honestly put in words what her mid-life experience, in the mid-1980's, felt like to her as it was happening. If you can stop judging her long enough to hear what she's saying about her life, its a worthwhile read. I hope that today, any woman being beat up by her husband, emotionally, and eventually physically as she was, would have stronger voices on her side. I hope that today, she has long forgiven herself for what she thought were her unforgiveable acts. If you like Sylvia Plath, Adrienne Rich, or even perhaps Toni Morrison, you'll enjoy this diary of a trapped woman who eventually finds her way to freedom.
Excellent choice for women in unhappy marriages.

Reading this book was like looking into the pages of my very own diary. I wept, I laughed, I felt all the pangs of my unhappy marriage revealed before my eyes. I wish there was a Part II so that I could keep in touch with the life of this interesting author whose life story is so much like mine that it overwhelmed me.
very compelling

I just now finished this book. I was unable to put it down. At 43, with difficulties in my own marriage, and the history of an affair of the heart only, never physical, many of the feelings and emotions expressed by Inette Miller spoke loudly to me. I cried often and gained some very important insights into marriage and relationships that will help me greatly in my own journey.
