Bullying in schools

Victims of bullying know only too well the depressing feeling of being excluded, harassed, threatened or even physically attacked by one or more classmates every day at school. Victims of bullying often feel helpless and left to cope alone, as their situation is underestimated by many teachers. This makes it all the more important for school staff to address the issue of bullying, to examine in depth its origins, how it takes hold and its consequences, and to set boundaries through effective interventions. The book *Bullying in Schools* defines bullying within a theoretical framework, summarises the current state of research, and outlines the factors that contribute to bullying in schools, as well as the various actors involved in the bullying process. It then compares and critically examines three different victim- and perpetrator-oriented interventions.
