The project focuses on the design and fabrication of a cost-effective Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) 3D printer for rapid prototyping applications. The printer is developed using a Cartesian mechanism, integrating mechanical components, electronics, and control systems to achieve precise layer-by-layer material deposition. Key elements include the frame structure, motion system, extruder assembly, heated bed, and microcontroller-based control unit. The system is designed to convert digital 3D models into physical objects using thermoplastic materials such as PLA. Slicing software is used to generate G-code, which controls the printer's movements and extrusion process. Special emphasis is given to improving print quality, temperature stability, and bed adhesion, including the potential integration of a PEI-coated build surface. This project demonstrates an affordable and efficient solution for rapid prototyping, enabling quick design validation and product development in engineering applications.
