Author Tony Jaksa Jr. lives in Northern Minnesota with his wife, Lori, and her dog, Charlie. Besides writing children's books and his job in Worker Safety, he enjoys hunting, fishing, and golfing. During his working hours, he instructs work teams and students on safe response to the hazards that are inherent to the workplace and works extensively on safety program development, procedural updates, and worksite compliance.
Currently, Tony is working across the country as the Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO), on large rehabilitation construction projects in the Hydropower Industry. During his off-work hours, he and his wife spend time developing their mission and hobby, writing children's picture books on Kids' Safety. Through this effort, they hope to find a path to early childhood injury-prevention learning and to help build the next ready-to-work safety generation.MISSION STATEMENT: Our mission is to teach kids what it means when we, adults, say, "Be careful." We all say it to our kids, but think of what it means to them. Our goal is, through a Picture-Book Series and "The Kids' Safety Squad" website, to teach kids what hazards are around them in their daily lives, how to recognize these dangers and how to avoid them, and in turn to learn what it means to "Be Careful."Stay Safe,
Pops, Bug and BudPersonal note: I have concluded that it's near-criminal to know what we know about injury prevention in the adult safety world, and not share that info with our kids. We are tired of what some folks say when kids get hurt - "Ah, kids will be kids," "He's a boy," - "They have to learn." What we need to want to stop is the pain and tears of the little people in our lives.Any questions or comments, please visit our website "Kids'SafetySquad.club."-Besides band-aids and hugs, what can we really do to prevent reoccurring pain from a similar incident to our young ones?
I have spent the last 47 years writing and implementing safety programs and processes. During that time, I participated in nearly 500 incident investigations, 375 involving an injury. Our mission is to give care and work towards preventing a reoccurrence of preventable injuries.
With my grandchildren's help, we are writing picture books giving our young folks a beginner's course in safety behaviors. Thanks for your attention to our mission and we hope you can join us on our journey to make safety a part of growing up, not an interruption or a compliance issue at age 18 and on.
Bug, Bud, and Pops welcome you to our second episode of the journey of the "Kids' Safety Squad."
