When outlaws rob the Fort Boise payroll, a posse and an army patrol give chase across wild country. The thieves flee south into Yellowstone Valley, hoping the wilderness will swallow their trail-and anyone foolish enough to follow.

Back at the compound, tragedy strikes when another member of their tight-knit community dies. Loss weighs heavy on the mountain men and their families, but the frontier allows little time for mourning.
