Enjoyable, informative and easy to read.

First of all I'd like to say that this is the original printing (1993), since then there has been a revised and updated version and I just checked the Feldheim website today and they say there is another update being done presently. I'm in my ninth month of pregnancy and I've found this book very helpful. I found this book very informative in scientific, cultural and Halachic (jewish law) areas. I was greatful for the scientific explainations that were more detailed than most of the pregnancy books on the market. Of all the books on pregnancy and childbirth that I've bought or have borrowed from the library this is the only one I've read straight through. It was enjoyable to read and easy to understand. I haven't seen the newer version, but I wish I'd gotten that one instead. This first edition has letters of approval in the front from Mordechai Eliahu (Cheif Rabbi of Israel), Rabbi Chaim P. Scheinberg (Rosh Hayashiva "Torah-ore" and Morah Hara'ah of Kiryat Mattersdorf), and Dr. Chaim Yaffe (of the Bikur Cholim Hospital in Jerusalem) FYI, a similar book might be "Halachos of Pregnancy and Childbirth" by Rabbi Yisrael Dov Webster though I haven't read it yet.

B'Sha'ah Tovah

This is a great book for the expectant woman and/or her husband/man who got her pregrnant. It is yet another easy tor ead and informative book by Feldheim Publishers. It features scientific and medical aspects of pregnancy as well as halachic considerations pertaining to pregnancy, labor, childbirth, and postpartum. The scientific and medical portions of the book are pretty similar to the information you can get from any number of sources such as What to Expect When You Are Expecting and Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy. The great part about this book is the attention to halachic considerations ranging from fast days, Yom Tov, and Shabbos to name a few. It also clarifies any questions a woman and her husband/man who got her pregnant may have concerning the laws of Niddah during pregnancy and during labor and birth, etc.The postpartum section of the book goes over baby naming, halachic requirements when a boy is born, when a girl is born, etc. It goes over the Blesing for the Children and gives a short look ahead towards the reality of being a parent. The appendices discuss Warning Signs during Pregnancy, Breast Self Exam, Nutrition, and Tay-Sachs.Overall I highly recommend this book to Jews who are concerned about the halachic implications surrounding having a baby. Another good pick is Yevoraich Es Han'orim: An Anthology of Halachos and Minhagim Regarding Pregnancy, Childbirth and Children by Rabbi Shlomo Cohen published by Feldheim Publishers.
