The Bible of Squeezes

This is by far the best. Not for beginners. You won't need all of its chapters in your daily play, but if you do know how to deal with every board presented in this book, then you are likely to win the bermuda bowl. This book will explain all types of squeezes, from the most simple ones to the worst and most complicated. You may be confused with the terminology, but I guarantee that reading this book will make you THINK, and EXECUTE your opponents!

THE textbook on squeeze play

This isn't the sort of book you pick up for 10 minutes before bed... it's the sort that you read at a desk with a pad and paper to take notes with! If you're willing to put the time and effort into a serious reading of this book, however, you will learn a tremendous amount. If you're looking for an accessible, casual introduction to the subject, look elsewhere (I highly recommend David Bird's _Bridge Squeezes for Everyone_). It's also not suitable for beginning players. This is a book for serious study but is well worth the effort.

Review by an non-expert bridge player

Absolutely fantastic book on squeezes! The book gives a fairly complete survey all types of squeezes and explains the background and particular structure of each type. It does not just give a lot of diagrams and shows that a squeeze of some type exists. Instead it provides a very clear description of all conditions and the reasoning behind 'the cards should be played in this particular order'. I especially love the chapters on double compound squeezes!

THE definitive textbook on squeezes--bar none.

If you are a true student of the game, whether intermediate or expert, and you are comfortable with a "textbook" type structure (most science and math people are) then this is an absolute MUST for your bridge education. Suffice it to say that I read it for the first time in 1970 and 5 times since (the last in 1997-8), and have expanded my knowledge of this subject significantly each time. This is a book that requires time and devotion. If you are willing to put in the effort, and you have any talent whatsoever, this book will add to your enjoyment of this greatest of card games immeasurably.

Great classic, highly recommended to intermediate players

The bidding is sometimes quaint, the style often terse, but "the play's the thing"... If you're an intermediate or advanced player, and willing to work some things out from terse summaries (a great way to fix learning into your mind, much better than having it spoonfed to you!), this great classic book will offer you hours of entertaining self-improvement: a little theory, a lot of hands to practice it on. Simple squeezes are perhaps treated a bit cursorily; endplays may be better covered elsewhere. But double squeezes have never been better explained anywhere else, despite this book's venerable age, and the treatment of strip-squeezes, triple squeezes, and compound squeezes, is still among the best. A book you will re-read, and appreciate more deeply, as your understanding of card play grows and ripens in time.
