Bouncing Rocks is about troubled times in 1940 when tension with Japan was causing a young man, Dudley Pratt, to make decisions relating to military service. Falling in love was creating further problems. An answer to his problems came when the U.S. Naval Reserve created the V-6 program which called for help from civilians with maritime experience to go directly into service by joining the Naval Reserve with a rate or rank befitting their maritime experience. The story about Dudley Pratt's time in the Navy during World War II unfolds, taking place in the western United States. From the pre-war beginning of the story until the surrender of Japan in 1945, we learn the significance, in Dudley's life, of rocks that actually bounce.
