A welcomed book by a fine gay latino writer

Johnny Diaz really delivers in his book Boston Boys Club. It's a refreshing read and I really enjoyed this book a lot on my vacation. At times I actually had to put it down and laugh because it's a fun familiarity of what we can experience in any city or community here in the US. Johnny writes in a way that I found very enjoyable...he loves to create a visual and makes sure you know exactly what it is he's creating. I am one of these people where I appreciate this type of writing because it sets the scene in a way that I can see in my head and fuels my imagination. This was a read that I breezed through with pleasure and know you will too when you read it. Boston really is a place where everyone knows your name...especially in the gay community. I'm excited to read his next book "Miami Manhunt"

Boston Boys Delivers!

Boston Boys Club delivers a fun, punchy, and entertaining story about three friends/frenemies -- Tommy, Kyle, Rico-- living la vida loca in Boston. Johnny Diaz has created a great read which gives readers a fun view of LGBT life in Boston, as well as a chance to think about issues that affect all our communities -- drinking, fame, dealing with after-fame, and romantic relationships. And since this West Coast boy has never been to Boston, it was nice reading about all the exciting places in New England that are important to the people there. An entertaining book! I'm looking forward to more novels from Johnny Diaz! fs

Fun, sexy read with easily digestable social message

Mr. Diaz writes about gay culture in Boston and in Miami in a sexy style that highlights the simple problems everyone faces as they try to find themselves: homesickness, the ugliness of a bad breakup, STD scares, the pros and cons of one night stands. Even better, he writes about this gay culture in a matter of fact way that is refreshing. Rarely, is homosexuality presented as so normal and everyday. This is how society should view gay relationships. Even better, the book is not pushing any kind of hard-to-chew message down your throat. Instead, it is a fun read that can be digested easily, like a mini marathon of Sex and the City. Except way raunchier. The characters are three dimensional and Tommy's love for Miami's conga queen Gloria Estefan is simply hilarious. TAKE THIS TO THE BEACH OR READ IT ON THE SUBWAY. Wear a big hat. You'll need it to hide all the blushing induced by parts of the book.

DO NOT MISS THIS ONE !!

This work is too, too real for me to easily review it. The cast of characters include: 1. Tommy: A Cuban-American born in Miami and transplanted to Boston. A sweet guy, full of charm, a professional journalist, a romantic, and all around good person. 2. Rico: An Italian-American stud puppy. Lots of common sense for those around him, but not a lot of common sense about himself. He is a real babe. 3. Kyle: An Anglo from Oklahoma. Stunning handsome, a model, a bit flaky, mostly egocentric, and a "wanna-be". 4. Mikey: A native Bostonian. He is a guidance counselor for a primary school, and a fun guy, when he is sober. Liquor is his curse. All of this being said, I absolutely loved this book. The very much was able to relate to Tommy, in his dealings with Mikey. Their story line runs too true. Enough said!! The other characters are wonderfully drawn by Mr. Diaz, and would be, if they were real, a great addition to one's stable of friends. Their stories too ring so accurately, that the reader might find himself thinking of people he himself, the reader, knows, who are carbon copies of these guys. This is a great and quick read. I eagerly await Mr. Diaz's next offering.

nice read

a fun, non-tragic look at a young gay man's social life and struggles. Finally someone writes a book that isn't about how sad or tragic being gay is. it's almost as if it was written by a straight girl about her and her girlfriends tribulations and trysts. good read.
