Good reference for wood types

This book is one of the few on the market that gives a comprehensive breakdown of the different qualities of wood and plywood available. The clear figures and inventory of techniques that included definitions of highly specialized terms enabled me, a novice, to communicate with experienced woodworkers. Now I'm confident arriving at the lumber yard, because I have already considered exactly the right product I need for the project at hand.

Good design and project book for experienced craftsman

This is not a book for novices, and that is the appeal here. No slap-dash weekend projects, this book is slim and does give all of the instructions needed. There's enough information to guide the motivated handy-person through built-in furniture making or room reconstruction. The book is not for the meek, but those equipped with decent tools and patience.
