Although I thought at first that this was a graphic story, it turned out to be an interesting mixture of prose and graphic telling, since it has panels along with paragraphs. I found this an interesting structure. The story is also excellent class discussion material. there is a story with a message, there are character motives, there is plot, and there is realism. There is room for comprehension strategies and basic decoding skills. The language is at grade level and there is no simplification of it.
