Coe D'Kemper is a recently orphaned country girl from the boot heel of Missouri. Both dainty and wild, she is a lion in a dress with "more spit than fire" as described by the aunt who has taken her in. Trouble and turbulation seem to follow her wherever she goes. However, life on the farm is not difficult. In fact, Coe seems to fit right in, eventually taking over the beekeeping duties on the farm. She's met the three neighbor boys who would change her life forever. The four of them take on bullies, shenanigans and tragedy. The only question is whether they can make it to adulthood with the same bond forged over years of events that consistently pull them apart.
